It all started in 1999 with the first photograph in this gallery. When I got the image of the New York skyline at dawn out of my camera, it absolutely blew my mind. Orange and green and yellow! Where did these colors come from?! They weren't there that morning. This image single-handedly sparked my interest in night photography. It made me realize that there are colors at night, dawn and dusk that don't exist during the day.
At first I believed that only the camera sees these colors. But over the years I have slowly begun to see these colors with my own eyes. Still ... they can only truly be discovered and enjoyed through the camera's eye.
Night photography is difficult. During the day, out of 100 photos shot, one can expect 20 good images. At night, one is lucky to get 3 good ones out of 100. It requires patience and persistence.
Its taken me years to capture just these few scenes. But I treasure them.
